This is your practice.
You get to choose how to use the program.

Whether it's a comprehensive approach following weekly video lessons and PDF activities according to a suggested timeline or cherrypicking those topics students should review prior to a 1-1 meeting, College Essay Lab® is here to support you through the college essay process.

+ TOTALLY CUSTOMIZABLE
Option 1: Students follow a prescribed timeline using their own customizable essay planner to complete weekly video lessons and PDF activities, referenced in meetings as needed.
Option 2: Go à la carte and send students only those video topics and PDF activities that need a little comprehension boost prior to your one-on-one meeting

Either option ensures that students arrive to meetings with an understanding of the essay process, ideas that avoid clichés, and a roadmap you don't have to create.

+ Bite-sized video lessons
As a counselor and teacher, I know how quickly students can disengage from material, which is why I've designed every lesson to be short, visually stimulating, and relevant. Only the most essential essay topics are addressed.

+ Engaging brainstorming exercises
Students know college essays are critical for admission, but they're typically so confused and stressed about the process that they procrastinate. The result? Last-minute work that leaves students feeling disempowered. In this program, we focus on only the most effective brainstorming exercises so students feel excited to start.

Each lesson plan includes a brief video lesson (~5 minutes on average), and accompanying exercise PDFs in a digital workbook students can do on their own time.

+ Essay writing examples in multiple modalities
As educators, we know that students learn differently, which is why I've kept multiple learning styles in mind. This program infuses visual aids and real-life writing examples with dynamic brainstorming exercises and discussion to ensure engagement.

+ INCLUSION & Equity at the heart
Every single video and essay example celebrates our different voices, driven by equity-centered data. From race to gender to ability, each detail of this course was thoughtfully curated to connect with the many students in our classrooms and their unique worldviews. This is the essence of strong college admission essays, our individual experiences and lenses.

My examples are drawn from real students experiencing just that... real life.
When it comes to essay writing, authenticity is the only way to truly connect with readers. I want every student to feel represented and supported by this program.

EVERY ESSAY TOPIC HANDLEd.

Daily or weekly mini video lessons- you choose the pacing.

What do I mean by mini lessons? Most are well under 10 minutes-- and full of visuals, brainstorming exercises, and real life essay topic examples. You're busy (totally get that!) which is why I've included only the most important topics you can pick and choose from.
